Ajustando FreeBSD en Thinkpad T450s

Suspend

Uno de los problemas más molestos que he tenido es que utilizando el escritorio MATE, al cerrar la tapa del laptop este entra en estado de suspensión (S3). Luego, al levantar la tapa es imposible volver al estado de encendido, debiendo apagar el equipo presionando la tecla power por 10 segundos.

La solución, sencilla (luego de encontrarla) se encuentra en los foros de freebsd o en blogs como el de vermaden

• Solved ACPI entering S3 - can’t wake up anymore

  Try disabling the TPM in the Bios. This has a few issues it seems.

• Suspend/Resume to Disk - Hibernation - iFFS/IRST Partition (Intel Fast Flash/Intel Rapid Start Technology)

  Optionally de-activate or disable the TRM/TTP security chip in the UEFI/BIOS. This applies to Lenovo (at least Thinkpad T450s, very likely other models as well) and probably other brands, too.

• The Power to Serve – FreeBSD Power Management

  The biggest enemies of suspend/resume subsystem are bugs in the BIOS/UEFI firmware.

  Sometimes disabling the Bluetooth helps – that is the option for the Lenovo ThinkPad T420s for example. On the Lenovo ThinkPad X240 it is disabling the TPM (Trusted Platform Module).

Esta vez la solución la encontré en un reporte de bug de FreeBSD aunque existen soluciones similares previas:

  Se crea el archivo /etc/devd/thinkpad.conf con el contenido:

• Adjusting acpi_video brightness increments on FreeBSD

  Mencionada solo para dar crédito a su autor, es una idea similar a la encontrada en bugzilla de FreeBSD, pero más complicada ya que requiere utilizar un script en lugar del comando backlight y cargar los módulos acpi_ibm y acpi_video.
